We started in 2005 as a petroleum development company. Today we are putting that subsurface expertise to work on Africa’s next great export: clean hydrogen.
Livingstone Energies Coy Ltd, formerly Livingstone Energy & Petroleum Development Company Limited, is an indigenous hydrogen energy and petroleum development company. Our operations span sub-Saharan Africa, including the Nigeria – São Tomé & Príncipe Joint Development Zone.
We develop hydrogen energy hubs and partner with global players on electrolyzers, fuel cells, solar and wind. The region’s vast, underused renewable potential is our competitive advantage.

- 01 Sun & wind Abundant resource
Sub-Saharan Africa has some of the strongest solar irradiance on earth, alongside strong coastal and northern wind.
- 02 Solar Cities Collocated generation
Solar fields and windmills built on a single site deliver steady, low-cost renewable power where it is needed.
- 03 Electrolysis Water → H₂ + O₂
Electrolyzers use that renewable power to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, with no carbon emissions.
- 04 Power-to-X Fuels & feedstocks
Hydrogen is converted into green ammonia, methanol and e-fuels that are easier to store and ship.
- 05 Export & industry Nigeria → Europe
The output supplies local industry and European demand. Our goal is at least 20% of the EU’s emissions-free hydrogen by 2035.

We are the first to design what we call Solar Cities: large solar fields collocated with windmills, built to power green hydrogen and P2X industry at scale across sub-Saharan Africa.
